Leadership Assessment

No matter how accomplished or happy we are, we all have areas of life that could use some improvement – and in most cases, different amounts of improvement.

• Think about your career, for instance. Are you in a role that provides you an ability to lead or influence a team? If so, congratulations!
• But now move on to another area: your personal life. Do your friends and family look to you for guidance because of your expert problem solving skills?
• Do your everyday decisions reflect emotional intelligence? Do they make you look like a leader in the eyes of your peers, friends and family?

So often we get caught up in life – and not choosing to become the leader we dream to be. In order to be in the driver’s seat you must design your leadership goals. The first step is to understand where you are today and then you can create your leadership roadmap of where you want to go tomorrow.

The Leadership Assessment is a way to take a good, hard look at each facet of your leadership tool kit, and rate its relative quality level, so you can discover which areas need more attention than others.

Consider each area like a spoke of a wheel: When one of the spokes is shorter than the others, it can throw the whole thing off balance. By getting this “helicopter” view of your leadership toolkit, you can identify where you are excelling and where there is room for improvement – to discover where the gaps are between where you are today and where you want to be.

LEADERSHIP ASSESSMENT:

The Leadership Wheel represents eight key areas which are critical to focus on when creating a successful leadership toolkit that will help you in both your professional and personal life.

As you review this exercise, see the center of the wheel as 1 and the outer edges as 10, rank your level of satisfaction with each area by circling the number that represents where you are today, then draw a line connecting each circled number, creating a new perimeter.

This new perimeter represents your leadership wheel.  Ask yourself the questions below the wheel to start the discovery process of where you want to go next.
